After an hour of intense work, total silence prevails. A small nudge sets everything in motion, and seconds later the silence is broken by cheers.
Domino is an engaging group activity that challenges participants’ creativity, ingenuity, and ability to collaborate. Participants are divided into smaller teams of 4–5 people, each tasked with constructing their own mechanical device which entirely without human intervention must trigger the next group’s construction in a continuous chain.
Participants have access to a wide variety of materials: tools, timber, and components in different shapes and dimensions. To further increase the level of difficulty and stimulate
creativity, each device must have a unique design no two solutions may look alike. This demands innovation and problem-solving, but above all, strong teamwork within each group.
At the same time, the real challenge lies in the bigger picture. To succeed, all groups must not only complete their own section, but also ensure that their solution works seamlessly with those of others. Communication, timing, and the ability to look beyond one’s own task become critical factors. Collaborating with the group right next to you is one thing coordinating with participants at the far end of the chain is something else entirely.
Domino creates a strong sense of community, focus, and collective achievement. When the chain finally falls perfectly into place, it becomes a powerful moment that demonstrates hat is possible when collaboration and creativity are allowed to lead.
